FAQ

Indie

Indie is a short form of “independent”; it may refer to: Indie art, fine arts made by artists independent of commercial fine arts establishments

What is A and R?

Artists and repertoire (A&R) is the division of a record label or music publishing company that is responsible for talent scouting and overseeing the artistic development of recording artists and/or songwriters. It also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label or publishing company; every activity involving artists to the point of album release is generally considered under the purview of, and responsibility of, A&R.

How do I sign up with indieAandR?

It’s easy. Simply click ‘Join’ and begin filling in the form fields with basic information about your Artist/Band. It should take you less than a minute to create your account. Be sure to upload some songs & a photo to your portfolio! Where do you submit my music? Depending on your genre of music anywhere and everywhere that is looking for your type of music, if we are contacted to provide an easy listening song for a romantic restaurant love scene that is what we will submit, we would not send them a Rap or Heavy Metal song, The same applies if they are looking for a Hard Rock Song For a Keg Party scene we will not be submitting an easy listen song We send submissions where it makes sense for your genre of music

When I sign up how long does it take for you to begin submitting my music?

When you sign up your account will be “Activated” within 24hrs. You can expect your submissions to begin within 24hrs of Activation.

How will I know when my submissions have begun?

You will receive calls or emails from us or the company we submitted to with what song and for what project they are interested in.

How do you save me money?

It is a full time job promoting your band and music. Since we are only sending to a specific list of contacts who are expecting submissions from us in that requested genre of music you won’t have to. This saves you CD, postage, and packaging costs (the money you save will pay for the cost of this service several times over). We also save you hundreds of hours of your valuable time by doing all the research and finding all the resources to submit you too, and time is money!

How much can I make?

Money is earned in two ways: the licensing fee and the performance royalty The license fee is determined by the overall music budget a music supervisor has to work with. Unknown artists get far less money than known artists. TV shows and small films pay less than major studios. A TV show might pay $500 – $5000 for an unknown artist or for an independent film. Major studios pay well-known artists in the tens of thousands of dollars. Performance income is determined by the number of people estimated to have seen the show the more people that have heard the music the more money you make on royalties. You make royalties every time the show is re-run. Of course you also make money when your videos or DVDs are sold. Once, you submit your music to recommended sites.

Then what?

That is the first step, you have now put your music in the best possible situation to create an opportunity for you!. Now be patient… Company’s interested in your music will send you an email or give you a phone call in some cases they will contact us and we in turn will let you know.

What if music is submitted to a site that no longer exists?

If you’re submitted to a non-existent site or one that is completely gone, go ahead and forward the submission or site name to submissions@indiAandR.com. We’ll check it out and replace your submission with a new one.
